Parent-Teacher Fellowship
Ask what you can do for your school.
The WCA PTF is made up of parents and others who are committed to the success of our school. We focus first on encouraging our teachers, and we plan events that bring school families and students together.
Who we are
Encouraging teachers and supporting students.
The Parent Teacher Fellowship at Wilmington Christian Academy focuses first on encouraging our teachers through ongoing appreciation projects. We also support academic and fine arts programs, student activities, and, together with the Patriot Club, our athletics department.
Most of our events are project based, so volunteers can help as much or as little as their schedules allow.

What we do
Three ways the PTF serves WCA.
The work of the PTF can be broken down into three main areas.
Social events
To foster community among students and families.
- Monday Meet-Ups: family dinners at local restaurants
- Fun Family Nights
- Student activities on and off campus
Encouraging faculty & staff
Ongoing encouragement through the year.
- Meals for teachers’ meetings once a month
- A back-to-school dinner for all staff, a Christmas luncheon, and a meal during Teacher Appreciation Week
- Goody bags for the teachers’ convention in September
- Teacher Appreciation Week in the spring
Where the funds go
Generous gifts, put to work.
Here are a few of the ways we spend the funds entrusted to us each year.
- Covering the full cost of the fall teachers’ convention
- A monetary gift to each teacher to use in their classroom
- Meals for staff on special occasions through the year
- Social events for students and families
Other school needs
Helping as needs arise.
We also have the opportunity to help with other school needs as they arise, for instance:
- Chromebooks in middle school classrooms
- An ice maker for staff use
- Part of the cost of electrical upfitting on the baseball field, with more lights and power for Carnival inflatables
Why we do what we do
A welcoming community for parents.
Choosing a school for your child is a huge decision. Once you get to know the staff and teachers at WCA, we believe you will love and appreciate them for the many ways they lead with excellence. Supporting the PTF is one way to get to know your teachers and, in turn, to encourage them.
The PTF is made up mostly of parents, so we know that parenting is hard! Whether you join the PTF or simply attend our events, our goal is for you to find a welcoming community here. Volunteering is also a great way to get to know your child’s classmates: friendships that begin in preschool at WCA tend to last into high school and beyond.
