Spiritual life

More than a school, a ministry.

At WCA, students have the opportunity to encounter Jesus Christ up close and personal. Through chapel, Bible study, mentoring groups, community service, and mission trips, we are training the next generation of leaders to carry God’s truth into the world.

Elements of Christian life

A Biblical worldview in everything we do.

At Wilmington Christian Academy our purpose is clear: we partner with the family to equip and mobilize the student to impact the world for Jesus Christ.

Our teaching is distinctively from a Biblical worldview. We believe the Bible is the foundation upon which all education rests: in the classroom, on stage, through athletics, and in all extracurricular activities.

“WCA is more than simply a school; it is a ministry where students are given the opportunity to encounter Jesus Christ up close and personal.”

Chapel

Worship together, every week.

Our chapel program shares the gospel in culturally relevant terms. In corporate worship, students have the opportunity to meet Christ where they are, with the ultimate goal of walking daily in a committed relationship with Jesus Christ.

Chapel is a weekly program filled with music, dramatic presentations, and speakers from the faculty and the local church.

Chapel objectives

  1. Hear the gospel of Jesus Christ proclaimed and have an opportunity to respond to Him personally.
  2. Better understand what it means to “love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.”
  3. Identify and begin to develop the spiritual disciplines in their own Christian life.

Growing in faith

Bible, retreats, and prayer.

Spiritual growth at WCA happens every day, not only in chapel.

Daily Bible

Every student attends a grade-level Bible time each day, where God’s truths are discovered by studying His Word. Scripture is memorized every week.

Fall retreats

Held each August, retreats help students meet new friends, fellowship with each other and their teachers, set goals, and worship. The middle and high school go to Anchorage Christian Camp.

See You at the Pole

Each September, students join a nationwide effort to gather around their flagpoles and pray for our nation and its leaders.

Bible studies exist to glorify God through a deepening relationship in which each participant takes an active role of fellowship, accountability, and encouragement.

Serving others

Service at home and around the world.

Following the example of Christ, we are called to serve Him by serving others. All three school divisions take part in schoolwide drives, donating food, clothes, or toys for various charities, and each year students serve on mission trips.
