A foundation that will last a lifetime.

Hundreds of children have experienced their earliest education at WCA since 1969, learning, growing, and flourishing in God’s grace. More than teaching alone, we have sought to shepherd the young.

Overview

Laying the groundwork for all future learning.

Our program offers a customized curriculum for each age level, along with a music studio, a playground, an indoor jungle gym, and a library. Hands-on, developmentally appropriate activities target every aspect of early childhood development while emphasizing the love of Jesus Christ.

Children are exposed to Bible, phonics, numbers, art, music and movement, books and reading, physical education, science, and Spanish, giving them a wealth of experiences on which to build a solid educational foundation. Motor skills, hand-eye coordination, visual awareness, and critical thinking are taught through fun-filled lessons and activities.

Our goal is to provide the highest quality program, where loving kindness, gentleness, consistency, safety, and security are of utmost importance.

Inside PK4

Ready for kindergarten.

Four-year-olds build the skills they’ll carry into kindergarten, one fun-filled lesson at a time.

Phonics
Children learn the 44 basic sounds of the English language and apply them to reading, through practice, drills, and a phonics-based reading program.
Handwriting
Correct pencil grip and paper placement, upper and lower case letters a-z, numerals 0-20, and pre-writing skills like line tracking.
Mathematics
Numbers, shape recognition, and pattern sequencing, with measurement vocabulary used to teach calendars, clocks, and coins.
Bible
Through Bible lessons, character stories, verses, and memory work, children discover how to think, grow, know, and live “God’s way.”
Electives
Art, music, Spanish, and library are offered every week.
Extras
Literature, poetry, crafts, songs, and stories teach heritage studies and science themes, from seasons and the farm to holidays, community helpers, and patriotism.

Every week

Faith, creativity, and discovery.

Each week, preschoolers attend chapel and go to Spanish class, music class, and the library.

Bible & chapel

A daily Bible lesson with songs, Bible stories, and scripture verses, plus simple weekly memory verses. Children attend chapel one morning a week, where the Bible comes to life through songs, videos, and stories.

Art

Painting, coloring, cutting, pasting, and mixing teach color and texture while building fine motor skills, and foster a lifelong love of art.

Library

Our Media Center Director leads weekly library time, with stories, puppets, and songs that build a love of books and the written word.

Music

Rhythm instruments, movement, and dance introduce tempo and dynamics while children sing and play joyfully.

Spanish

Starting in PK3, songs, videos, and games introduce Spanish vocabulary, phrases, and customs of Hispanic culture.

Technology

Every preschool classroom has a MIMIO interactive whiteboard and a ceiling-mounted projector, and each PK4 classroom has a HoverCam, so teachers can take “field trips” anywhere in the world.

Play

Fun times, rain or shine.

Children learn through play. WCA has an 8,000-square-foot outdoor preschool playground and an 18-foot indoor jungle gym, both used every day to help children develop large motor skills.

Teachers monitor every aspect of playground safety, and the equipment is continuously checked to make certain it is safe and properly maintained.
